Immerse students in a rich cultural crafting experience with our Miniature Drum Kit, designed to seamlessly integrate into the Ontario Curriculum for grades JK through 12. This comprehensive kit provides a hands-on workshop that spans 45-60 minutes, offering a deep dive into traditional drum making. Each kit comes pre-cut and includes a drum ring, a Birch Bark strip, approximately 32" of sinew for lacing, two 2" diameter rawhide skins, and beans for sound. Additionally, detailed step-by-step instructions, alongside an informative history of the drum's significance and its benefits for learners, are provided to enrich the crafting experience.
Our kits are meticulously prepared for participants, requiring the rawhide to be soaked overnight or at least 6 hours in advance to ensure ease of assembly. With common sizes at 2 ¼ inches, these drum kits not only support educational outcomes in history, science, numeracy, social studies, geography, art, music, language, and culture but also encourage creativity in decorating the drums with lace and beads. Essential tools like electric glue guns or white glue are recommended for assembly, making it a perfect project for classroom settings or at-home learning.
